@bungustore: In the late 1980s, Tombow created Irojiten around a simple idea: colored pencils did not have to be just for kids. Instead of basic colors, its 90 pencils explore subtle tones and unusual shades, each individually named and organized into book-like volumes like a color dictionary. Nearly 40 years later, Irojiten is still going, with Tombow even expanding the idea into watercolor pencils.

While Irojiten was made in the late 80s, colored pencils made specifically for professional grade art since the beginning of the 20th century. This script smells of slop; do better.

In the 1970s, toy store in my town sold Caron D'Ache colored pencils and watercolor pencils and I got a set of 30 as a kid. It never occurred to me that there weren't good colored pencils for adults to use in the US.
