M1A is a Springfield rifle that is a M14 style. These rifles will not be full auto when released to the public.

I carried a M14 in the Nam for about 4 or 5 months I fell in rice paddies was able to shoot the rifle w/o miss fire. then we turned in our M14 & got the M 16
The person who authorized that switch should have gone to prison. There were Marines who were overrun & their rifles were broken down lm sure the Army experienced the same problem. I slept. in the rain & my rifle was wrapped in my poncho

We were issued M14s at PLC Quantico in ‘75. NATO round hit hard at 500 yards. It was heavy to match with though. When we were issued M16s later on, it felt like a toy.
