Get @reshare_app • @vondecarlo Admittedly, the refined side of my ratchet does not win every battle, & Lord knows, I have a sharp tongue (which is just a fancy way of saying, I got a smart azz mouf) & TBH, my inner Cardi B wins more rounds than my more mature, evolved inner Neville Goddard would like to admit. But what I’ve come to learn about healing & growth in my 50+ years is this: there is no end date. You are always evolving & you’re always vulnerable to that unhealed version of yourself lurking in the corners of your mind, waiting for the right moment to pop off. Whenever you reach a new level in life, your responsibility is to expand beyond that point & not let old habits drag you back in to places you’ve outgrown (which is much easier said than done). It takes reflection, honesty, awareness, self-love, discipline, self-control, & an unrelenting “fall down 9, get up 10” mindset. I’ve come very far for someone who grew up in violence & poverty, who endured abuse, & who has lost the few people in this world that truly valued & loved me unconditionally to untimely deaths. I’ve had to stand alone, navigating a brutal industry under pressure & rejection, in the shadow of someone most would trade me in for without a 2nd thought. The whispers are loud. The point has been made clear. Yet, I’ve managed to remain creative & consistently perform for audiences while carrying a level of grief & scrutiny most people couldn’t stand upright under. I’ve continued to improve & evolve without losing the core of who I am, or allowing the signs of loneliness, sadness, aging, isolation, or depression to show on my face. You have to look deep into my eyes to find my vulnerability (something many will never see, because most don’t bother to look past the surface of my hair, face, fupa, & T&A - while simultaneously insisting on debating me about hugs & my race). I still have a long to go to reach my full potential both on & off stage, but, I wrote a book about what has worked for me to this point in life. In sharing, my hope for the reader is that you discover more about yourself than me in this book. You’re going to love it, & yourself more & more every chapter you read 👉👉@fineoverfifty
