In Spanish, many say BUENO? Because back in the day the lines would constantly fail, so in English: Can you hear me?? So in many Central American countries, people still say BUENO? But in most Caribbean countries tries we say HOLA!

Horrible Histories taught me that ‘Hello’ used to be an expression of supprise and Edison used it when he first heard someone talk over the phone. I could be wrong though 😅
