Speaking of easy justice. When prosecutors do you have an open and shut case with actual evidence they drop the charges just for someone to take a plea deal. It leads to a lighter sentence for those who should be in longer. If a prosecutor is hired by the county state etc. they should do their job if they’re not doing it they should be fired

reminds me of when they started testing a massive backlog of rape kits & found frequent reoffenders that they could have put away with the 1st kit let alone the like 20th

so basically cops are a much worse version of the retail worker (i was sometimes this worker) who gets asked if an item is in the back, the worker goes back there, gets some water, talks to another employee, and the comes back like "I looked all over and couldn't find it"

the thing that burns me up about it is having the DNA tested, even if the lab has an enormous backlog should always be the standard. if you got the right person nail the coffin shut, and if you're wrong congrats you did your job and examined the evidence now you can find the person who actually did it. these days I don't even have the naive hope of people getting fired over it.

in a past career, I spent a lot of time on the prosecution side of the courtroom. that experience only solidified to me how critically important it is to have defense attorneys. . I don't want to live in a society where prosecution isn't held to the highest standard, where even the absolute most guilty don't have somebody making sure that they are being treated fairly. . We don't have that system now, but we should be always trying to strive for it.

Police leave 80% of reported crime unsolved, Police fabricate evidence or lie to put an extra ~20% of African Americans in jail on average in each state, some places can go up an extra 20, there was a gang of cops, half a force which had r@p3d a woman in my very very large suburb and I do not think they were punished. Cops are inherently lazy and evil, nearly all of them, and my grandfather was a cop. I've been around these people.
