that’s actually scientifically proven! sleep helps with transferring information from short term memory to long term memory. that’s why it’s not recommended to pull alnighters before exams, but having a good sleep the night before

I wanted to memorize a long sura once, but I really struggled. Somehow I couldn't memorize it, or at least not fully. Then one day, I got a bad headache, I was laying on bed, put on headphones and opened a video of this sura. The video was repeating it multiple times. I fell asleep, then woke up and suddenly I could recite the whole sura. it's truly a miracle, subhanAllah

That’s kinda how I ended up getting in the top decile at med school. I would go over the lecture content for the next day before bed time and then sleep. The lecture would consolidate my learning, plus I was able to focus so much better as it wasn’t overwhelming with new information as I had covered most the night before. Then I’d repeat what I’d learnt from memory after to test myself and fill in any gaps I forgot. It requires consistency but if you’re keen to do really well it is definitely a great method!

This is what I did too when I was doing hifz-it’s the craziest cheat code ever ,just going over it enough to memorise each line but not enough to recite the entire page at once ifygm

In psychology, it’s called the primacy and recency effect. You remember the beginning and the end of the book for example and not so much of the middle. Same with the day. You remember what you did first thing and at night easier and faster. repetition and rehearsal aids long term memory. Great video btw
