Here is how I made a mini magazine! Create a New Project: 1. Open Canva and start a new project. Choose a custom size and set the dimensions to 11 x 8.5 inches. This will be the overall size of your mini magazine. Add Grids and Design Zones: 2. Go to the File menu and select Add a Grid. Choose a 4x2 grid layout with a 0.1-inch margin. This creates eight rectangles on your workspace. Plan Your Content: 3. Here's the clever part: * The bottom two rectangles will become your front cover (bottom left) and back cover (bottom right). * The top row of four rectangles will be your interior pages, but they'll be flipped upside down for now. (This makes sense when you fold the magazine.) Tip: Take a screenshot and number each rectangle for easier reference while designing your content. Design Your Pages: 4. It can be easier to design on a larger canvas. Create separate 4x6 inch projects in Canva for each rectangle (6 for interior pages, 1 for the front cover, and 1 for the back cover). Design your content on these squares, then copy and paste them back into their corresponding rectangles on the main 11x8.5 inch project. Print and Fold: 5. Once you're happy with your design, save it and download it for printing. You can use a printing service like Staples. 6. Here's the folding fun: * First, fold the paper in half hot dog style (like a hot dog bun). * Then, unfold it and fold it in half again hamburger style (like a burger). * Unfold it again. * Now, take the ends of the pages and fold them inwards to meet the crease you made in the middle fold (hamburger style). * Finally, to create a clean fold for your pages, make a small cut with a ruler and craft knife along the center crease, starting from the back cover and going down to the sixth page (second rectangle from the bottom). Additional Details: Feel free to ask if you'd like a more detailed explanation of the folding process! #minimagazine #minizine #DIY #craft
