Claude is gonna eat Salesforce up! It's not gonna happen in a quarter or a year but after they get enough data they need, Anthropic will look to get out of this deal. It's almost as if people forgot Salesforce lost Starbucks earlier this year to them independently building their own infrastructure with AI. The sooner business realize SaaS is a glorified middleman the sooner businesses will retain more control over their own data and workflows. At the point Anthropic wants to leave, the models will have learned so much that Claude Code will develop a better first prompt product for a custom CRM then whatever tf Salesforce has now. Sell then short $CRM now.

the fact that companies have a team to litterally just manage Salesforce is madness. so ontop of buying sales force your going to pay someone just to manage the shitshow

I agree they are expensive but they do a lot of discounts from RRP, for my company is 4O% off and free SF Cloud, but it’s still expensive $30k per year for sales cloud on its own 10 users

I deeply resent per person licensing because there are a lot of users that can benefit from occasional use of some systems, but per person pricing forces businesses to make painful choices on who gets that access.

This sounds suspiciously like Oracle has always operated: just incredibly opaque, bazillions of addons it’s hard to tell if you’re even using, and definitely impossible to figure out how much anything will cost.

Then… add the cost of a Salesforce administrator to actually make all this crap work!

Salesforce pricing is actually simple. You just sign up and pray to god that at the end of the month the bill will not bankrupt your company because you will never know exactly what you will be billed.

The Salesforce sales process was the worst experience I've had with any vendor. We ended up with sales and service enterprise at $100/user. 6yrs later I'm still not sure we have the right stuff.

But if you take that 3 year term you can “lock in” your annual uplift at only 7%…. Yes commit your business for 3 years and you get the value of limiting the price increase to a ceiling of 7%

SF is soooooooooooooooooooooo expensive, I really think you underestimated the pricing. You forgot to include hiring people to build things in SF, our Sr PM for SF has 4 PMs underneath him for just SF, that’s how much work there is to do after you buy it. Now if we have enough work for 5 PMs dedicated to just SF you need to start factoring in engineering teams and other people to do the work.

For this price there is no way that a custom built solution is not cheaper. Why do companies still use Salesforce?

Pretty sure this is exactly why my company (Fortune 50) is actively developing our own CRM system, to move away from the obscene and completely convoluted pricing structure Salesforce implements.

All Enterprise software is a scam and always has been. I run almost everything at our shop on open source software (including our file shares, with Samba) and C-staff has always praised us for getting so much done with so little expense and headcount. And it's because my team doesn't spend its time suffering under the yoke of vendor 🐂💩

we were paying them $330k per month. we replaced the platform with dynamics 365 which cost us nothing due to our microsoft enterprise agreement. we spent 5 years on the migration and regression tested TF out of it before going live. we own the azure servers on prem and pay $0 for cloud storage for dynamics. however, don’t get me wrong, we’re a full MS shop so we pay MS $390k a month for everything else we use 100+ app/services (installed and cloud), BI platform, SQL servers, lake house, databricks, data fabric, APIs, etc.) about 90% of our backend services are now on a single bill. the other 15% supports our CORE ops platforms and AI integration apps and services.
