I was accidentally tracking the electric and water usage of like 18 neighbors for a little bit. was wild being able to see when they were and were not home. definitely not a good thing

Reading your neighbors data can come in handy to know if they are home or not. Usage is up? Home. Usage is down? Not home. Crazy that this data is sent unencrypted. 😳

In the UK the smart meters must send encrypted data, it's strange that the USA allows encrypted.I am sure people could use this for nefarious reasons such as stalking

How did they not encrypt this? Just send the data over 2g/3g/4g/5g and no one is able to listen in on it.

I am too European for this 👍 really crazy that in the US I can exactly say if someone is home or not. I have access only to my device and all encrypted data.

hell yeah!! and with a broadband yagi +15dbi antenna on an SDR, you could easily scan several square miles!!

I know its silly, and most unlikely, but would anyone be surprised if some hacking group found a way to decipher keystrokes, or some shit, based on how much electricity each key uses? Again, very unlikely but also encrypting data isnt that hard.
