done this flight 2007...scariest bc of its isolation...no land masses pass by and flying over the coldest part of the world can cause issues for planes. if the plane goes down ... you die...even if you survive the crash. the amount of hours a rescue team would take to get to a crash site....freezing conditions in and out of the water. So any plane issue....no where to emergency land but the water. its quite unsettling...its unique and i wouldnt fly that route again. 😂

Have flown this route in 2018 when it was still a 747 and yes, saw ice out the window. Amazing experience!

If you already think it's scary, just know that jet fuel hits its freezing point on this route and they have to drop down a couple thousand feet to get it liquid again
