The 9/11 museum is the heaviest place I’ve ever visited. I have NEVER felt the way I did in that place.

Katie on the Daily :
My aunt was there that day, outside smoking a cigarette before going up to work… the plane hit and she was covered in ash and debris from the impact. She immediately headed home, to Brooklyn, and made it there. She had so much ash on her… she would never quit smoking because it saved her life but then she died of cancer four years later

My heart dropped at the sign for floor 102. My friend’s father was on the 102nd floor. He never made it out 😞

What hits me the hardest is that these everyday things we often take for granted is what we are seeing now. These items belonged to people who went to work that day thinking they’d be home for dinner, go to lunch etc. it’s so eerie

Every body in that building had keys - to their office, businesses, homes, cars, storage buildings. Many bodies had a form of communication with friends, family and coworkers in the form of pagers or phones. They’re not items - they’re people. ❤️

I recently learned (via the museum) that apparently the rubble was so deep into the ground that they found Victorian era keys and artifacts etc that were in the ground beneath the towers from before they existed. 🤯

We have a piece of rubble , for 20 years you could still smell the smell. Today you can but it’s not as strong.

Those are the parts that hit the hardest because those items belong to a person a living breathing person that didn’t make it home that day
