That if we sacrifice enough, stay disciplined enough, work long enough and want something badly enough, we will eventually get exactly what we deserve. But life does not work that way. You can control the effort. You can control the preparation. You can control your discipline. You can control your attitude. You can control whether you show up when you are tired, discouraged or afraid. But you cannot control the timing. You cannot control other people. You cannot control circumstances. You cannot control luck. You cannot control the final result. And sometimes you can do everything right and still lose. That does not mean the work was pointless. It means the work was never a guarantee. It was a choice. A choice to become better. A choice to keep moving. A choice to give everything you had without demanding that life owe you something in return. This is where most people break. Not because they are incapable of working hard. But because they become addicted to the outcome. They work hard because they expect a reward. They stay disciplined because they expect success. They keep going because they believe something is guaranteed at the end. Then reality happens. The result does not come. The relationship ends. The opportunity disappears. The test goes badly. The dream takes longer than expected. And suddenly they question whether any of it was worth it. But maybe the goal was never to control the outcome.
