Might even suggest some Bethesda titles if he hasn’t tried those. Skyrim, fallout… both are pretty “play at your own pace” and fairly minimal on flashing lights. Skyrim is already really low light, I’m not sure how big of a problem it’d be for sudden lights and stuff though!

Minecraft on peaceful or easy if he wants something more? The Skate games are fun to mess around on too. Red Dead Redemption might be too much, i’m not sure.

If it’s financially possible, get him one of those racing game setups with the wheel and pedals. If not, a few good games would be any of the older forza games on 3690, midnight club, dirt, if he’ll playing something with a story, sleeping dogs, halo/cod campaigns on easy mode, maybe a UFC or WWE game if he likes that kind of stuff

Midway Arcade Origins is a really good one that has like 25 or 30 old school arcade games. That might be a little easier for him than some of the newer stuff
