I would hope OP escalate that like it doesn't matter if you deliver not all the informing or details but they made allegations serious allegations you need to involve HR or have a lawyer in case because they're trying to put you and your family at harm even if your brother was deceased/not.

Your right it’s non of their business so why they’re acting like if their part of your family or best friends for ever their just coworkers at the end of the day your all just strangers to each other who work in the same job they don’t have to know about your personal life and asking to get step up to your brother is kinda inappropriate and weird especially when you don’t even know this person

Obviously the coworkers are crazy on a different level but is it just me or is it also a little weird to just say “he’s not with us anymore.” I lost a brother, too. Not a triplet but still. Absolutely it’s noones business and it don’t talk about it unless someone asks but yeah, “he’s not with us anymore” is fine. If ppl pry, just say you don’t like to talk about it. That’s it.

it's literally standard practice when u have lost a sibling. i still say i have 3 sisters and it's been 16 years the way the tone of the conversation switches when ur up front is uncomfortable

but its a persons decision to disclose if her fam member is deceased already its not someone's obligation to divulge it to anyone who asks. and technically THEY are sibling so if she still counts him when someone asks that's normal. whats wrong with people

my mom passed away when I was a kid.. all my life I've met ppl where I mentioned her to them by didnt say she passed.. and do you what every one of them's response after they found out after some time.. "oh im sorry to hear that" and some politely asked if I wanna talk about it and accepted that I dont. now that is how it should be!! 🤨
