This does not look like “regular” nail polish.

The problem is you’re still exposing them, even it’s an accident p. Even if it’s a small amount of time, your skin is absorbing that monomer which is what CAUSES your body to GAIN an allergen towards monomers. I’m glad you used regular polish.

She’s saying you have to be careful with gel, but if you get some on the skin it isn’t the end of the world. Also it’s an allergic reaction so it depends on the product used and the person. Not everyone will get contact dermatitis, but it is important to always be careful and use good products

I feel like everybody is missing the point here- yes obviously its gonna happen here and there no one is perfect, but you doing it "as a nail tech of 17 years", for a freaking video and influencing other to do this for a trend just like you did is the issue. also, you say its regular polish but it looks oddly creamy and thick for a regular polish, bot sure though so ill give the benefit of the doubt on that one

she is saying even a second is fine which it is not. each time you get it on your skin or it leaches through your gloves (literal seconds) is bad. please don't think you'll or your clients will be okay if you even get it on your skin briefly

I feel like one of the biggest issues is matching the curing watts and nm needed for different gels or products. Like sometimes 36W to 48W operating at 365nm + 405nm but finding those details for the gel products and for the lamps is almost impossible

u should not be adding anything onto those very damaged nails, maybe trim the cuticle and add a top coat but doing acrylic on heavily damaged nails??

This might be a stupid question but if you have an enhancement say acrylic or hybrid gel, would this not create a barrier on the natural nail against gel polish or uncured gel polish?

I'm so glad someone is being rational about it! another thing I find funny, people will claim to be safe by putting a latex barrier on the finger to avoid skin contact of gel... but like... if youre scared for a reaction to gel in that small, brief exposure... then you'd have the same risk with latex allergy 😂

I mean if a mere couple seconds of skin exposure were THAT bad, wouldn't other products be used? Like even professionals make the occasional oopsie

Literally unfollowing you over this take… you don’t understand exactly how it works, even just a second of contact sensitizes the skin! You’re spreading more misinformation
