Corporate recruiter here. I still don’t understand the reason that AI written resumes get such shade. Big deal? Is it an accurate depiction of what you have done in your career? That is all I care about.

There’s a big difference between “job searching inefficiently” and being rejected by a broken hiring system. Platforms can automate screening and rejection based on preset criteria, meaning your résumé may never reach a human. And then there are ghost jobs, which are very real and increasingly documented. Companies post positions they have no immediate intention of filling, sometimes to build applicant pools, signal growth, or for other business reasons.
So no, applying to hundreds of jobs doesn’t automatically mean someone is lazy. Sometimes the applicant isn’t the problem. The algorithm, ATS, automated rejection systems, ghost postings, and a hiring market flooded with competition are. Telling desperate people to “just try harder” while ignoring those realities isn’t career advice. It’s blaming the applicant for a system they don’t control.

Um. It is a terrible job market. I have spent hours filling out applications, tweaking my resume, and doing interviews on zoom to get nowhere. And for entry level, no experience required, jobs.

My husband is a Web Developer. His experience historically commands mid-six figures. He got laid off with almost everyone else in a restructure and spent 2 years not being able to get past AI bots to a human. Literally the only interviews he got was from small companies who still do their own job and they couldn't afford him. My daughter is now facing the same situation with many year of experience in her field and super happy to "play the corporate game". I love your sense of humor and interview drama comedy content but the reality of job searching from the other side is much different than what you think it is.🙃

I’m moving to Alberta from Ontario next month and I’m hoping to get a remote job. Mainly because my husband passed away a few months ago and I struggle to leave the house right now. So I’ve missed some work for that. At least if I work from home that takes away the dread of leaving the house. As that’s the hardest part for me. I won’t say that though if I get a chance at a remote job.

I don't disagree with this video in general, but I worked for almost four years as a web developer making a solid salary. Got laid off from my job over three months ago and have had two relevant interviews(both were from quick apply btw). I've applied to lots of jobs and even with a tailored resume and cover letter, the chances of hearing back are almost none. I think whether or not this is a "terrible job market" depends on what field you're talking about, and it sure seems like it in my field. These companies only want senior level developers with 10+ years of experience and even the junior and mid level roles available are extremely competitive. I do like your videos though(but I sure hope a lot of them are satire)

I'm looking for a fully remote job because I'm my parents' full-time caregiver. It's more expensive for me to find a job outside of work and hire someone to come take care of them than it is for me to be unemployed.
I can have a set schedule. I just need to be home so I can check on them during my breaks, and in case of an emergency

I am struggling, however relocation isn't an option. I tweak my resume a bit every few but I am currently only in the market for a job in my chosen field as I have a position, now I'm looking to move into my field. Of course as new as I am, there are always people more qualified. not that I'm giving up. Also some of these applications are quite long now, OR, they only have an apply with indeed button or whatever platform there is.

I quit a job recently because I was placed on an action plan less than a month into the position. I had minimal training, there was no build in training time, and after I was hired it was my responsibility to seek out the answers I needed because they were “too busy” and I had to train myself on YouTube and ChatGPT. I had a sudden family emergency where two people passed away within days of each other and was out for a few days and I got berated for that AND a skin reaction I had to scrub they had in the office
