For those who don't know, The Austin airport used to be Bergstrom Air Base (USAF). It was named after the first person from Austin to die in WWII. After the based was closed, it was given to the city which named it Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

My dad went on his flight last year and asked me to be his companion. The emotions and memories from that trip still make me cry. He got to see the navy memorial, the Vietnam wall. We stood in silence in Arlington cemetery at the tomb of the unknown soldier. He kept saying he didn’t do anything to deserve that trip and I didn’t have enough words to tell him how much he did
