We have an episode that explains some of it! When Cole is human we have an episode where Phoebe has jury duty and we find out that this guy who killed this lady was laundering money for Demons. And that when Leo explains that demons need money to infiltrate human society and that’s when Piper says that’s how they probably made Cole seem legit and stuff.

He mentioned they put him through law school so I assume when he was apart of the brotherhood because they were in government position that they got him the ADA job to get closer to the charmed ones. Then he started working for the prestigious law firm when Paige first came around which gave him the penthouse. They never mention him having cases except that slumlord case so I think a demon owned the law firm and gave him money if he needed it

I assumed bc he was a high level demon who could also do spells they just made money. Bc they didn’t have to worry about personal gain unlike the charmed ones. Most of the higher demons when we see them on Earth and not in the underworld they seem to be rich. Unlike the lower ones that were in gutters or had no base at all.

Okay remember the episode when Cole had to go under because the brotherhood was coming. They were trying to let a certain merger happen. If we take that logic (that they always had a demon connection with someone with power and money) and apply it to the centuries he has been alive being the right hand man to the source, I would say yes the source pays very well lol.

they explain it in a blanket statement. they have demons that are basically in specific roles in the system, to make money for evil. (episode with the eclipse, and the stock market) (episode where pheobe is possessed and they vanquish the congress man or senator or whatever he was)..
