@tribenursing: After following the Lindsay Clancy case, what’s ONE thing you would change about how healthcare workers assess postpartum mental-health patients? #nursing #nurses #fypシ #nursesoftiktok #nursetok

All health care workers have conditioned themselves to be 100% empty when it comes to patients. We are your laughs bc of our pain. We avoid hospitals at all costs. It’s never a place anyone wants to be. Esp if you have mental health. Even when we don’t talk will cause it by the laughing and the comments we can hear and if you come into my room I will let you know how sorry that is to do to people that are hurting badly enough to have to come there to further endure that abuse.

Women need better support than a survey and fear of CPS stealing their kids if they’re struggling. I for sure had undiagnosed PPD/PPA w my 1st, but my worst fear was being perceived as a threat when my biggest worry was my son’s safety. And that fear/PPA could for sure lead to psychosis (thankfully not in my case). We aren’t supposed to be going it alone, but many don’t have moms and aunts and sisters to help. Affordable access to postpartum doulas and classes? More paid time off for both mom and dad? Classes for fathers? Community over isolation and access to counseling?

If she says she has thoughts of harming the children, remove her from the children immediately. I’m sorry but I said what I said.

I think the pediatrician should also be well trained in postpartum. That baby gets seen ALOT in the first 6 months alone. Check on mom and baby at EVERY appointment

I think most newborn moms should be able to speak without FEAR IF LOOSING HER KIDS BECAUSE THE DRS ARE FAILING TO SEE HER POSTPARTUM WITH OPEN HONESTY!! How bout drs & nurses be held accountable for the lack of empathy and accountability for the patient!

Two things. First, actually listen to women. Second, asses whether their partner is worth the air they’re using. At home checks the first six weeks should be standard of care for the initial postpartum period.

Just in general believe your fucking patients. If a woman comes in and says something is physically wrong, fucking believe her. If a woman comes in and says something is wrong mentally fucking believe her. ISTG how many fucking medical professionals gaslight women pisses me the fuck off. Do better. And if you can’t figure out what’s wrong just say you don’t fucking know and don’t just list it as “anxiety.” Medical gaslighting should be grounds for revocation of licensure

: First, if someone calls the suicide hotline and ask for help, but doesn’t have a plan don’t tell them to call back when they have a plan. Take them seriously and give them help. Second educate, pediatrician, and their nurses, postpartum, depression and postpartum psychosis or anything else cause there are so many appointments for the baby and hardly anybody checks on Mom she’ll go weeks and weeks even months before even being checked on and even then things fall through the cracks who is the pediatrician nurse who noticed that I was not right and said you need to be seen and even then I couldn’t be seen by my doctor for months and months, and I suffered in silence. : I was suffering from post parteum psychosis I called for help I was having horrible hallucinations and terrified. since I didn’t have a plan no one helped me. Later I had a suicidal thought but I didn’t went to really hurt myself or others or had a plan so I was told to call back when I had a plan 😭😭😭😭 wtf I was extremely depressed and called for help and I was told to call back when I had a plan. How many people could have been saved that committed suicide because they were told the same thing so they didn’t call again and then just went through with the plan😭😭

Stop forcing new moms out of the hospital 24 hrs after they just grew an entire human and produced that child to the world safely. It's ridiculous that women are expected to go through a body and mind altering phase of life then just get back to business as usual.

something that protects and reassures women that they will not lose their children if they admit that they are having harmful thoughts about them to their healthcare providers. More detailed suicidal and homicidal ideation screenings.

Only having a planned 6 week post partum check up being the standard is ridiculous. Every well child check for the first year should be accompanied with an appointment for the parent who gave birth.
