@kathryn.tatess: Any time a decision feels too big and overwhelming, I ask: How can I make the view smaller? A lot of overwhelm comes from trying to answer a much bigger question than we actually need to answer right now. “What do I want to do with my career?” → What’s one direction I’m curious enough to explore next? “What city should I spend my 20s in?” → What city makes sense for me at this moment in my life? “Do I want to spend the rest of my life with them?” → Do I want to go on another date with them? You don’t always need to know the final answer. We usually don’t have enough information to decide the final answer anyway, which is why it feels so impossible. Making the view smaller helps me turn an overwhelming decision into something I can actually act on. And that action & experience is what ends up giving me the answers I was looking for.
