Tim pool would be arguing that the car would put horse breeders and buggy makers out of a job.

Is this not a capitalism? Is this not a free market? If you can’t compete you’re supposed to close. Thats how that works. Is this dude really advocating for socialism?

destiny is correct. you can create more job if you just hired people to build house with just a spoon instead of a shovel but that doesn't mean it is efficients.

Wouldn’t tax policy that keeps manufacturing be a form of DEI? Its definitely not free market merit based capitalism.

well tariffs help develop industries that need it for a short time and then the once they can be competitive you take the tariffs off

Produce something people would want to buy or at a quality that encourages people to buy that item.

His argument makes no sense. Almost every regular affordable vehicle is made here. You aren’t buying an imported reliable car anymore. Most “imports” are made here. So you can import all your cars from abroad but the economy would crater because the job losses here would be in the millions

it's actually really smart that Tim pools was basically asking you questions because it brings the normal left back to the center rather than this DSA shit hearing destiny's takes I'd rather have that left than the DSA

I may disagree with Destiny on a few things but what sets him above many other similar creators is that he reads. he reads and learns about the issues. you can see the difference

So Tim pool wants more company towns where everyone living there is a working slave? Annnd what happens when that biz fails? Ah yes, they crumble.

I don't like Tim Poole, but damn, Destiny, don't compare Lords losing their kingdoms to factory workers losing their jobs. There has to be a better analogy.

The modern american economic rise post 90s wasn’t due to cars, or agriculture, or textiles. It was creating the internet, global business, semiconductors, technology companies, hollywood. Does timmy want us to work in factories while other countries take over in all the above categories?

Campbell Allan101 :
The issue is that the world is now a globalised economy meaning there are massive disparities between rich and poor nations. This makes it virtually impossible for western nations to manufacture anything because wages in china for example are basically slave labour compared to here. Whereas 40 + years ago we were only competing with other European and advanced economies
