@itsjonathanharvey: The IMF estimates our internal trade barriers are equivalent to a 9% tariff on ourselves and that removing them could add roughly $210B to GDP. Let Canadians freely trade with Canadians. #canadanews #tradewar

Pierre Poilievre wants to remove interprovincial trade barriers to make trade free between Canadian provinces. Just saying.

That’s why beef that is shipped from the other side of the world in Australia is 30% cheaper than beef from Alberta. Because of interprovincial trade tariffs. Carnie promised to address this problem a year ago; and that’s the last time he mentioned anything about it.

Canada is pathetic. It is easier and cheaper to sell good to the US than to some provinces. Also easier for some like nurses and Doctors to get job in US. Make it make sense.

BC wineries can't afford to sell to Ontario, they'd pay more in tariffs than the bottle is worth.

They said a year ago they would remove them all, but here we are, this is Carney moving at speeds never seen before. It's sad liberal voters either don't care, or are just clueless to this situation.

here is a good example i have the safety officers in British Columbia. Tell me that my first aid ticket from Alberta was no good. And that I needed a British Columbia one CPR is universal it's the same thing done all over the world It's just nothing but money grabs for the provinces cause they're all greedy. As fuck

I mean a great example of how far these barriers for work and trade certification goes. If you’re a bartender in BC with you serving it right certification, you cannot go and bartend for an event in Alberta without getting certified in Alberta. Same with lotto sales. Theres no sense having 13 different provincial regulators for 1 category of goods/ services.

I recently watched a video from a BC winery owner saying that it will still cost them less to export to the US with tariffs than it does to sell to Ontario. Make that make sense 😳

Why blame the Liberals? We have to put pressure on our premiers (few of which are Liberal). I know Quebec will be a tough nut to crack.

7% GDP growth available from deregulation. That's insane. Stop calling this a problem and start calling it an opportunity. As someone who isn't Canadian or American, and have only started paying attention to the Canadian economy since things went tits up with the states, I kinda get the feeling this over regulation is very systemic throughout Canadian culture. But it's worth a word of caution, especially in the current tensions and macroeconomic situation, deregulation without sound strategy becomes a large part of deindustrialization. Which I kinda think is everybody's enemy at the moment. I live in NZ and we are drowning in over regulation too, obviously a very different economy to Canada though.

It’s so ironic. Trump is doing to Ottowa. What Ottowa has done to Alberta. And as I watch how angry Canadians are at Trump. Makes me laugh at the great hypocrisy I see

Canadians have been saying this for years. End the provincial problems and take a Canada first mentality. Produce and supply to ourselves at affordable rates and supply the rest to other countries.
