I will sometimes wear them for how they feel, but there are also some practical reasons. Support hose are cheaper than most compression socks, so they help when on my feet all day. And they're an excellent base layer when it gets cold outside. Pantyhose, thermals, and then pants, and my legs are warm even when it's -10°F.
