personally i think it started when text emoticons/ascii started becoming more popular because we started using :3 :D ^-^ type stuff in place of punctuation, and obviously emojis 😁😳🥰 are super common and popular now and we never really brought back punctuation in texts/social media so now it just seems too “formal” for casual convos

It’s because that’s how our parents texted. Just straight to the point with no emojis so we just assumed they were always mad lol I like to use punctuation, but I have to use emojis so people know what I mean. My mom has now adapted to using emojis thank goodness🤣
