But it also raises a very important question for those of us who witnessed what played out in Osun State: Can what happened in Osun be described as “the right politics”? Or was it simply politics played to its logical end, carefully calculated, strategically executed, and designed to produce a particular outcome? Politics is not always about who is the most popular, the most qualified, or even the most loved. Sometimes, it is about strategy, structure, timing, alliances, communication, mobilisation and the ability to understand the political terrain better than your opponent. Perhaps that is the lesson Osun has given us. The question is not merely how far you have travelled in politics, but how well you have mastered the politics of the moment. And history, as always, will ultimately judge whether what played out was political brilliance, strategic calculation, or simply the consequence of the times. Politics is a game. But great politicians understand that winning the game requires more than playing hard, it requires playing smart.
