@evelynmiller48: Sometimes MS punches you in the heart in the smallest ways… For months I’ve been blaming my earrings. I thought they were harder to put in, they were to thick, to small so it was harder to hold, harder to get through my ears… and this morning it finally hit me. It’s not the earrings… It’s my hands… Something as simple as putting in earrings requires fine motor skills, coordination, positioning my fingers without really seeing what I’m doing & being able to FEEL what my hands are doing. & somewhere along the way, that quietly became harder for me. I didn’t even notice it. I think this is a part of living with MS that’s hard to explain. You don’t just grieve once when you’re diagnosed. Sometimes you grieve again when you realize something you’ve done without thinking your entire life suddenly requires thought, effort or help. I’ll adapt. I always do. But that doesn’t mean those realizations don’t hurt. 🧡 #MultipleSclerosis #LivingWithMS #MSSymptoms #ChronicIllness #MSAwareness

I am so happy I came across your post. I’m honestly almost in tears because I’m dealing with something very similar with my left arm and hand. I couldn’t even figure out how to explain what I’ve been feeling. I can barely put on my necklaces anymore, and I hardly wear jewelry because I can’t properly feel my fingers. It’s such a bizarre and frustrating feeling.
I haven’t been 100% diagnosed yet. I’m currently seeing an MS specialist, and I’ve been told there are some things showing up on my brain that they’re still trying to figure out. I have a lot of the symptoms, so MS is something they’re investigating, but I’m still going through testing. I also have several other autoimmune issues, which makes everything even more complicated.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I can relate to so much of what you’re saying, and honestly, it makes me feel a little less alone knowing someone else understands what this feels like. 💕

Hello, I am currently in the process of getting diagnosed with MS and you are not wrong when you say that it takes patience. I love watching your content and it was your videos that truly helped me understand what my body is doing. I recently (as in a couple days ago) had a new symptom where my right arm (also my dominant arm) feels weaker than normal. Almost like I worked it out too hard and the first day it happened, it was so hard to write. I almost couldn’t hold the pen in my hand at all. And the feeling really hasn’t gone away. Any advice?

If you had put my picture in front of your face, you would be explaining me. So sorry that you were having so much trouble but I can really relate and it makes me feel better that someone understands. 🥺

Try asking an AI source detailing your specific problems. I did and came up with multiple potential solutions. Here is one I never knew existed. Go to a reputable ear piercer (not a kiosk) and tell them “I have MS and difficulty judging the angle of my piercing. I need implant-grade titanium flat-back earrings that I can leave in continuously, and possibly a correctly sized insertion taper.” Call around around and ask. They may be able to help you. My problem was necklace clasp and got turned on to magnetic clasps. Bought a few and loved them so I bought a bunch and now have them on all my necklaces. AI has turned out to be one of my best friends.

I found dangly earrings a little easier to manage, but haven’t found a good solution for studs. If you like to wear necklaces/bracelets, I found some magnetic clasps that work really well on amazon

It’s so frustrating and then having to take them in and out for scans. I’ve almost just given up on them 😭

Omg. This just hit me so hard. Diagnosed a little over a year ago and this has been a struggle recently. Never put it together until you described it!

My mom is my neighbor and I had to ask her to help me. I stopped because asking for help to just put in ear rings brought A LOT to light for me about MS. I cried over it too.

I just wear earrings with hooks because it’s a crapshoot whether or not I’ll be able to put a backing on.

I didn’t realize how much my hands and fingers were affected until I put together a dresser from ikea yesterday. Over 3 1/2 hours and lots of dropping things and struggling to get little parts where they needed to go. 😢

I’ve cut my fingers seriously twice this year because my brain tells my hand to move and it just doesn’t. Anything small, drop it, pick it up, repeat. What helps me sometimes is not allowing myself to rush. I can’t rush so I won’t rush. I have a very prompt personality but I allow myself the gift of being a little late to be kind to myself.

I got my ears pierced at 21. Second holes at 50. I had to stop wearing ear rings bc I lost the small motor movements needed to put them in my ears at 70. I quit doing my needleworks also. No embroidery no knot tieings no cross stitch no hook rugs. I’m 3/4 of a century old and not a happy camper as that will also be going away within 2 years or so. 😳😳🥺
