@watchcostly: In 2019, the Golden Ray left port in Georgia carrying more than 4,000 vehicles. Less than 40 minutes later, the massive cargo ship rolled onto its side. Investigators determined that incorrect ballast quantities had been entered into the ship’s stability calculations, making the vessel appear more stable than it actually was. The ship was declared a total loss, along with its cargo — roughly $205 MILLION combined. Removing the wreck became an enormous operation. Salvage crews eventually had to cut the ship into giant sections and lift them away one at a time. One mistake. More than 4,000 cars. One very expensive shipwreck.
