Red Gate Bakery, but their cake menu is one flavor at a time I believe, or Little Cupcake Bakeshop, if you don’t mind extra sweet. They have a Good Humor strawberry shortcake!

Everyone saying Little Cupcake Bakeshop should be ignored lmfao. I used to work on the same street and me & my coworkers regularly would get stuff from there when we wanted sweets (like at least a couple times a week) and it's really pricey and half the time the cake is dry is fuckkkkkkkkk. I can't even tell you how many times I would buy something and throw half of it away bc it sucked sm. Idek why we kept going back probably just bc it was there LOL

People’s unnatural allegiance to Martha’s should be studied. Go to From Lucie, or Saint Street Cakes - check their instagrams for current flavors. But Saint street usually also has a number of non seasonal flavors in whole cakes.

Honestly honestly honestly LOL find a Dominican bakery. It’s an elevated version of the British pound cake but much more moist with caramel filling and meringue frosting! Delicious. Usually half pound is only $45 or so. Usually found uptown Manhattan. Bizcocho de colores is fire could take the 1 train to 207

Empire. Their strawberry dream cake is one of my favorite things. Their buttercream is amazing and they do their own version of twinkies (the red velvet one is yum!$ and their hohos are so delicious — they do a homemade whipped marshmallow filling and it’s covered in chocolate ganache. I don’t even like baked goods that much but I LOVE Empire (in the West Village!).

Idk your budget but I would book a resy at Sant Ambroeus at Madison and get brunch or lunch and a slice of Principessa cake if they have slices available. It’s their signature lemon and vanilla sponge. The atmosphere is a nice vibe, to feel like you’re treating yourself.
