It was basically one day in American politics. The Department of Education accidentally makes a Trump/Hitler comparison. Ted Cruz unknowingly amplifies an account renamed “Ted Cruz’s Tiny Penis.” The White House tries to troll Canada with an eagle attacking a Canada goose—apparently without watching far enough to discover THE GOOSE WINS. Trump declares “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED 2026” in a war that is currently six months old. And a Republican congressman announces that Jelly Roll isn’t welcome in his Florida district because the country singer…made jokes about Donald Trump’s weight. Meanwhile, these are the people running the federal government. Not a drunk group chat. Not South Park. Not an abandoned Veep script. The United States government. We’re fighting Canada, renaming lakes, losing propaganda battles to waterfowl, accidentally comparing the president to Hitler and apparently policing whether comedians have sufficiently respected the president’s waistline. And we’re doing all of this while engaged in an actual war. There simply isn’t enough satire left.
