ok i am a little drunk but i think its becouse we are in fact diferent (example: i live in šentjur and have a lot of family in slovenska bistrica but me and my family are very difrent from a lot of people in celje, vojnik, slovenske konjice or other municipalities and for some reason have diferent dialects and a lot if words we use and even traditions) i dont know why but we just do okk?🫶

We did this in Latvia. Cut up regions into million pieces and then siphoned more EU money meant for regional development. When all EU money was spent we put regions back together.

In short, according to our constitution the country is supposed to be divided into provinces. However we still haven’t managed to establish them because we can’t agree on the number of them, their borders and their names. We’ve had dozens of proposals (from 3 to 16 provinces) but all of them failed at the end. And because of the lack of the intermediate level between the state and the local government we are severely lacking regional development, resulting in everyone migrating to Ljubljana for work. So we are all hoping for their establishment in the near future

The Disc Log :
We skip the “state” level that Germany or the US has because there is just no reason to have them and go directly to municipalities. I think these are actually great because they bring at least some governance closer to the people rather than some guy in Ljubljana that doesn’t give a shit.
