Saturday Markets #outfitoftheday I was given this dress a couple years ago, it’s been sitting in my closet with the tags still on it since. The retail price was $119, more than I personally would spend on a dress I wasn’t sure l loved. Even if I did love the dress actually, that’s more than I would spend as it isn’t something I prioritize. I kept the tags on because I knew I could sell or put it on consignment if I never ended up wearing it. Then Friday night, my daughter was helping me pick out an outfit for the market when she suggested this one. Unsure, I tried it on again and found some shoes to match. I liked how it looked, so I cut off the tags and let myself wear the dress. Why hold onto something, leave it sitting in the closet when you can enjoy it now? I received so many compliments on it that day and felt cute! Part of my resistance to wearing it at one point was my leg hair. I wasn’t prepared for, or comfortable with the attention it can attract in a public setting. It’s taken years to feel fully confident and comfortable in my natural body. To wear what I want without factoring in whether my body hair might show and how people might react to it. My relationship with my body has changed and evolved. What I initially did for myself has grown into something I’m fully comfortable sharing and showing others. If it makes some people uncomfortable, then good. In that discomfort, there’s space to question their feelings and beliefs. By seeing me confident, comfortable, attractive, and unapologetically rocking it, it gives others the opportunity to imagine what that might look like for themselves. #bodyhairisnatural #bodyhairpositivity #bodypositivity #selfacceptance
