Spath care. 🪴 Leaf Cleaning and Pruning – I clean the leaves regularly, not just to keep them looking nice, but to help with photosynthesis and pest control. I start by spraying them with a castille soap solution, letting it sit for a couple minutes and wiping them down. This helps remove any pests that might be hanging around, and it also helps me spot any issues early, especially those that might not come off with just a general wipe. Also, this is a great time to remove any yellow leaves. 💦 Watering and feeding – I wait until the potting mix is about 50% dry before watering. For me, that’s usually about once a week in the warmer months and about every 10 days during the cooler months. When I do water during the warmer months, I always mix in liquid fertilizer to keep the plant fed. The method I use to water is a mix of top and bottom watering. I start by putting the plant in a bowl or cache tray, I pour some water on top of the soil to get things started, and then leave the plant in the bowl for about 15 minutes to absorb more water from the bottom. This ensures the potting mix gets evenly and thoroughly moist. ☀️ Lighting – Spath can survive in lower lighting, but prefer bright indirect light to thrive. I keep mine near a sunny, south-facing window where it gets bright, indirect light for most of the day and also receives some light from some grow lights near by. With just these three practices—regular leaf cleaning, watering with fertilizer, and strong light—your Spath can grown full and healthy. #plants #houseplants #monstrofarm #plantcaretips
