From August through October, The Rescue Effect highlights the lifesaving impact that pet adoption and fostering have on shelters by freeing up space and resources to help more animals in need. With over 500 participating organizations, these shelters and rescues are full of pets of all sizes, ages and personalities who are looking for loving homes. Gavin adopted Kaya in 2025 from Los Angeles Animal Services, a participating Rescue Effect shelter partner, ultimately creating a ripple throughout the shelter system that allowed them to support even more LA animals. Once homeless, Kaya is now Gavin's beloved companion who even accompanies him on tour and during photoshoots – just like this one! “That’s what I love about The Rescue Effect," said Gavin Rossdale.
