@selfcarewithlaur: Always Ontario 🇨🇦 The name Lake Ontario originates from the Wendat word Ontari’io and means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big.” The name is older than Canada, older than the United States, and has been home to Indigenous peoples for centuries. From growing up in St. Catharines, then moving to Kingston and Toronto, Lake Ontario has always been “the lake.” The lake for my beach days, morning walks on the Port Dalhousie pier, sunsets and sunrises, hosting Rest & Rise workshops, concerts on the Toronto waterfront, trips to Centre Island, and waking up to a view of the water every morning in residence at Queen’s. So much of my peace and relaxation and self-care has been at this lake, which will always be named Ontario. #lakeontario #ontario #canada #SelfCare
