Why not buy it and donate it the Doll Museum of African American history in Omaha? Did you even check to see if it came from the National Negro Doll Company? You can't just assume that all black dolls from that time had racist intentions.

Little black girls can’t have black baby dolls? Being from New Orleans I know there were a lot of black owned mercantile store in the Bywater area and Treme that sold black baby dolls. Just because you found one in a white estate sale means nothing. Honestly, are we raising another generation of Karen’s?

As someone who collects controversial historical objects, I offer a different perspective! Preserving something ≠ endorsing it. Objects like this document a very real and ugly part of American history and can be donated to museums, archives, or Black history collections, or used for education. Sometimes the uncomfortable artifacts are the ones we most need to preserve.

i got some free crochet patterns on my local buy nothing group and one of them was a book of "mamie and family" and it was patterns to crochet similar looking dolls and decided that the best course of action was to burn the patterns so no one else could make one

We bought the original yatzee in original printed box at an estate sale paid and walked and went to walk out walking, as we went around a corner to go out the back door we found Nazi memorabilia we already had the haunted yatzee so my kids call it Nazi Yatzee...

I saw a video where someone suggested buying them and donating them to the national African American museum. Not sure if this is correct. Also, I can’t believe sooo many people are ignorant to the history and why these items are racially motivated and negative. People need to read a book before commenting.

My husband’s grandma is white, I’m Mexican. The only POC in his family. She gave me one those figurines, it was eating a watermelon. My husband scolded his grandma for not only having that but for gifting it to me. It was SO RACIST and I’ll never forget about it.

My great grandmother had 2 of these we found after her passing we disposed of them you should not be collecting these and saying they are worth a ton id rather get rid of things depicting hate then hold them and collect them for money
