This is Salina Turda, a centuries-old salt mine turned amusement park in Turda, Transylvania (about 35km/40 minutes from Cluj-Napoca). Salt was mined here as far back as the 11th century, and after mining stopped in the 1840s, the space eventually reopened as one of the strangest, most incredible attractions we've ever visited. 🎡 What to expect: a massive underground amphitheater, mini-golf, bowling, ping pong, a basketball court, boat rentals on an underground salt lake, and yes — a fully lit Ferris wheel, all more than 100 meters beneath the surface. 🧥 Things to know: it stays a constant 50°F/10°C down there year-round, so bring a jacket even in summer. Getting to the main area means either 20+ flights of stairs or an elevator. 💵 Bring some local currency since several activities inside require cash. 📅 Best time to visit: first thing when it opens.
