I would flat out ask if she knows how a pot lick works and then inform her. But then again I am a bit of a bitch lol

If you’re doing a potluck, why isn’t there a group chat of who is bringing what? You know, so you don’t have 5 people bringing dip and no one bringing chips. Just start a sign up group chat as the invite next time.

If she’s your friend, have this conversation with her and stop talking shit about her behind her back. I’m not saying that the friend is in the right by any means but you say she’s an amazing person in every other way. Yet, you’re willing to end a friendship with someone over something that they might not even be aware of. Friendships are just like relationships. You need to have open communication.

potluck or not, I always bring something, even if the host says nothing needed ... flowers, bottle of wine, bourbon, bag of ice are all well received items

I would ask her to bring something simple like plates or a drink. We never know how people can cook, the cleanliness of their house, or the availability of funds.

In my over 30 years of life, I do not know what the heck a potluck is. I've heard the word before, and that's where it stops. Let's normalise asking people to events and explaining what the events are 🙄

had a friend who was similar (she was a bad cook and was to embarrass to try and bring food) she was also limited in money so order a platter of something was not an option
now she also grew up in a non-alcoholic home so never felt safe bringing that after a conversation I started inviting her over to "help" me cook so we could be oh I made this she made this and slowly she got better at cooking
now the offering thing idk

Next time you have a pot luck. Tell her what you’re bringing and ask her what she is bringing.

How do yall call people your friends but decide to come to Reddit instead of just asking her straight up. This was so minor it didn’t even need feedback… like what? Does she even wanna be friends?

Just split kfc with my sister. She has the app and has points and specials. She had buy one get one so we split it. I know it’s not a potluck but it’s the same idea.

Yeah, I feel like saying “ we’re having another potluck next week, do you know what you’re bringing? “ it at least opens the conversation

Maybe she can’t cook. Instead of not inviting her you should, I don’t know, have a conversation. Seriously what’s wrong with people

How did it not come up naturally already … I would have asked day one if she didn’t have anything; where’s you fish for the potluck ?
