Hot take: I think a lot more athletes have CTE then just football players in college and nfl. They’re only testing football players but i believe it’s common in other sports as well. Not to the degree of football, but still

I honestly believe that CTE in American Football can be prevented with a slight rule change. Rugby for example head on tackles are considered illegal so players lead with their shoulders into the tackles rather than their heads. If something like this is implemented in the NFL it could lead to lower cases of CTE.

Retired D1 athlete here. There was a running joke that the football players had the lowest GPAs & required the most tutors/academic help amongst athletes. Reflecting back, I’m curious as to how much of it was them being “dumb football jocks” and actually having an underlying brain injuries.

Right, my older brother has CTE from years of football and it’s altered aspects of his personality and now he’s more aggressive and has completely withdrawn from my family. Will never put my kid in football.
