This is actually canon. Longbottom leaf has effects similar to weed. In The Hobbit, Saruman made fun of Gandalf for smoking so much and said it was diluting his mind about the Necromancer. In Unfinished Tales, Saruman was seen sneaking around the Shire because he didn’t want people to know he started smoking it too😂
