I had a similar experience, and it’s really not racism. Once at 2 a.m., I waited a long time for my apartment elevator. When it opened, a Black man over 2 m tall came out while I was going in. We both got startled and screamed, then laughed right away. You don’t expect to meet someone different in an elevator that late at night. It’s just an unconscious, natural reaction
