You can have a beautiful brand, a busy team, exciting projects and a strong social media presence—but if you don’t understand your finances, systems, processes and risks, you’re building blindly. As a founder, I find myself asking questions like: • Where is the money going? • What is actually working? • What isn’t working? • What risks are we ignoring? • Who is accountable for what? • If I stepped away today, would the systems still work? Big ideas can start a company, but they are not enough to sustain one. Strong businesses are built on systems, accountability, documentation, good governance and the willingness to confront problems early. Sometimes, the biggest threat to your company isn’t competition.
