I know that for a lot of people you have to remind yourself. this is just a skit... but it's also a good reminder that this is some people's lives. that it isn't as simple as just leaving. he has hidden her birth certificate from her. the thing she needs to start over to be able to rent her own place and get a job. and he is now protective over the room that it's likely hidden in.
