@verdictwatch2: Mandy Fackler, a Florida mother of two, was kidnapped and killed after returning home from a beach trip with her children, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Authorities say Fackler and her two children, ages 9 and 12, arrived at their Hudson home on August 10 and found Fackler's ex-boyfriend, Pinellas County Deputy Troy Savetz, waiting in the front yard. Sheriffs said Savetz, 47, and Fackler had been in an on-and-off relationship described by authorities as tumultuous. Investigators said an argument began over a television set. When Fackler attempted to call 911, authorities said Savetz took her phone. Fackler then told her children to run inside, save themselves, and call 911. The children called dispatch and identified Savetz, giving officers vital information about what was happening. By the time law enforcement arrived, Fackler and Savetz were gone. Her phone was left behind at the home. Investigators determined that Savetz had allegedly forced Fackler into a rental vehicle and abducted her. Deputies tracked the vehicle to Platinum Drive in Spring Hill. Authorities found Fackler and Savetz dead inside. The Pasco and Pinellas County sheriff's offices said Savetz shot and killed Fackler before taking his own life. Savetz had worked for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office for 14 years and was assigned to its Marine Unit. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri called the killing "inexcusable." Fackler's children are now in the care of their biological father.
