navigation with Earth's magnetic field has been figured out. Iron accumulates in the liver as it sorts red blood cells. Very near vagus nerve of homing pigeons that were studied. The study interfered with iron accumulation in one group of pigeons. They were unable to navigate. Totally love your stuff.

So us humans do have magnetic navigation, you just need to pack a good compass.😁

I found that the northern lights just looked like white smudges in the sky, almost clouds when looking at the with my eyes. But looking at it on my phones camera provided a much more colorful view similar to the green in your video. Is that just my eyes being weird or is that a common experience? thx

I imagine humans can sense magnetic north, because why else would they develop the compass so early on, and we have other ways of sensing north versus south in general. For example, when I fly intercontinental between North America and East Asia, I ask for a seat on the north side of the plane because I like to look out the window, which is kind of difficult with the sun beaming in.

I’ve heard the earths magnetic poles can flip. Would that cause problems for us? Or would we just have to read compasses backwards? @Prof. Erika Hamden
