I just have a question. Maybe I can get your advice on they want to put my chemo port in this Thursday and then immediately start chemotherapy the next day on Friday now my biggest concern is the port is obviously going to be red and swollen and tender. Is this a typical thing that is done having this done this close together or should they wait for the port to heal before they administer the chemo? Does anyone know by the way I have stage 3 invasive, ductile, carcinoma breast cancer, and I am terrified because also they are giving me the red devil treatment followed by taxol for 12 weeks after that then a double mastectomy then radiation for 12 weeks. But mainly I was just wondering about the port surgeon and then the very next morning getting up and having chemo administered through a sore inflamed port I’m not sure if this standard or is it best for them to wait for the inflammation and redness to calm down before chemo.

I agree , communicate with your team , if you or they feel extra blood work is needed to look for something , they’ll order it . Mines been really cooperative in helping to manage side effects and everything else that comes along with stage 4 cancer

Insurance puts the brakes on certain tests for me.My insurance wouldn't allow a PET scan, but allowed a CT scan.I was lucky and my Cancer was taken care of with a lumpectomy, radiation and taking a hormone blocker.
