My uncle was the mayor of Tetipac and helped bring electricity and water to indigenous pueblos but was killed by the cartel. His name was Jose Mario Gomez Figueroa

My parents were not exaggerating when they said Guerrero has extreme poverty, no jobs, water, light, etc. I understand why they left Guerrero for the U.S

It pisses me the fuck off when I hear Mexicans say Mexico is a classist country, and not racist, as if race doesn’t determine what socioeconomic conditions you’re literally born into…

My mom used to use old corn cobs as dolls and use the little leafs as its hair. She would draw faces on them and those were her barbies

This is a reminder to me that not everyone lives like I do. There are people suffering and dying. I hate that people have to live like this.

Its saddening, my family had a gathering at their house and as some of the guests were leaving one lady stopped and asked if she can take even a little bit of coke in a plastic cup home. My aunt let her take the whole 2 liter bottle and she was so happy. Even coke is a luxury to have for our people in Guerrero.
