mesh on a slab for a house with a 4 inch slab sitting on the bottom trust me you're not building my house 5/8 rebar on a 2 inch chair 24 inches on center chairs are 2 feet

Only thing wire is good for is keeping plastic from blowing away during wind you can’t place the wire in the middle of the slab you would have to put chairs on 6” o/c

That wire in center of slab adds nothing to the slab. Should be about an 1.5” from the bottom or 1.5” from top depending on tension load

I put whatever the specs call for. If the engineer wants it on dirt it goes on dirt. If it fails it’s on them or concrete plant.

I just poured 4 house slabs Friday and one had vapor barrier the rest was just dirt and rebar

Not true. depends on what the soils report says. I've pored thousands of yards on native soil if engineering design allows it. Now it's easier for set times to use abc
