Hot take but as a very left leaning person who is also an immigrant and queer, I often surround myself with right wing people because I want to understand WHY. Anthropology teaches it beautifully, culture can’t be changed by an outsider saying it’s wrong, only someone who really understands it and knows WHY and HOW it happens can begin to even convince people to listen. I want my beliefs to be challenged, I want my morality questioned, I want growth but I also want to teach if ever given the opportunity
