@teresondupuy: Yes, it was about you. You were too beautiful. Too loving. Too consistent. Too safe. Too real. Not too much. Too much for the version of them that existed at the time. Their avoidance, withdrawal, or rejection may have come from their own wounds, fears, shame, and inadequacies. They may have recognized the beauty of what you were offering and still been unable to receive it. And that does not diminish what you gave. Feel good about how you showed up. Feel good about the safety you created. The consistency you offered. The beauty you brought. The love you gave. You do not have to rewrite yourself as foolish, needy, or “too much” just because someone could not meet you there. Sometimes you really did love someone well. And sometimes they simply did not have the capacity to hold it.
