I respect everyone's opinion, but I reject fundamentalism in all its forms. *The Untamed* had to contend with a low budget and censorship; not only did it boost the visibility of MXTX’s works (benefiting all her wonderful novels in the process), but it also paved the way for the Chinese BL dramas that are so popular today. If, after so many years, it remains a top-tier C-drama—beloved on streaming platforms and social media, with countless edits and fanfiction—there must be a reason... and one of those reasons is the cast and the lead actors' performances. If you pay close attention to the details—the setting, set design, costumes, accessories, and color palette—you will see the exceptional work of the director (an MXTX fan) who strove, within the aforementioned limitations, to honor the original *MDZS* work. At the end of the final episode, there is a direct acknowledgment of MXTX and the wonderful characters she created. This might seem like a small detail, but the drama came out eight years ago, and even today, there are BL authors being held in prison by the Chinese government. I believe this credit is due to them. All the best—long live MXTX, long live *MDZS*, long live *The Untamed*.

Using “parody” to describe TU is kinda offensive though. They did the best they could do with all the censorship rules they had to stick to bc it’s not just about not showing men kissing. There is more to that and honestly overall they did a great job. The core of the story is there. They followed the whole timeline to a t. Also it’s approved by the author herself and if the author sees it as her own work’s adaptation maybe they didn’t do a job that bad.

The untamed made lanwangji so dirty, like dude why he would be so rude against wei wuxian? not even in novel he were so harsh, the most exact adapatation its till now the japanese play stage

i agree, happy that they have different names, i mesn the untamed is not bad per sé but if you compare the two they are just too different, it's not a good adaptation
